Halloween cupcake

Julia got to wear her new costume for the neighborhood Halloween party yesterday. It was a big hit!

will it ever end?

I know it doesn't end when you have a baby, all you're doing is ending one thing to start another. Right now it feels like the calm before the storm. Julia just got a big girl bed, she sleeps through the night, can feed herself, can play independently, walk around, you know, everything that a baby doesn't do. Once she goes to bed at 8:30 we've got a couple hours alone to work on things. Once the baby comes that will all change. But I'm okay with that.

33 weeks along.

Nat's prediction is the baby will weigh 9 lbs. I can't really say she's got a big belly, can I? I'd post a picture but she'd kill me if that happened, so I won't risk it. I still think it's bizarre to feel the baby kicking around in there, and it's pretty cool when he gets the hiccups.

A swarm of butterflies

Nothing ever goes as quick as you want it to. These butterflies took all week. Good thing I'm not in the butterfly selling business because I'd make about 25 cents an hour.

More painting that doesn't involve me

The playroom and bathroom are finally finished! Betty and her mom did an awesome job.
Of course now that the painting is all done, don't worry that I won't have any more projects to finish. Most guys use a saw to cut out manly stuff like 2x4's for a deck or to finish the basement. Not me, Nat's got me making butterflies for Julia's room. Of course they're cool and I still got to use a band saw to cut out the shapes. Now I know what I want for Christmas, power tools!

The first pic is the bathroom, and the second shows the new grass skirt curtains over the puppet stage in the playroom. Remember the playroom is only 40 inches tall, so it can be a bit tricky working in there. And Julia loves the room.

From the little one

Julia: Mom, you make delicious broccoli.

Julia: Mom, carrots are good for your eyes. They help you see in the dark. Today at school I ate 2 of them, one for each eye.

Finally, painting that doesn't involve me!

For the past 6 weeks I've been prepping, removing wallpaper, repairing holes in the drywall, sanding, taping, priming, painting, painting a different color because the "lime green" really turned out to be a fluorescent green and that definitely was not going to work; basically all the normal fun involved in painting 3 rooms, trying to get all of this done before the baby comes. I'll say it was my reward for going to Hawaii, Nat says I would've had to do it either way.
This last weekend we had the ladies come and put the finishing touches on the playroom. It turned out great, couldn't be happier!
